Wildcats win tournament consolation soccer title


After the Wildcats fell 2-0 to Center in the first round of the Hallsville Tournament, Whitehouse defeated Henderson 4-0 in the second round. Kevin Nava, La’Javion Mosley, Dawson Baker and Braden Thurston each booted in a goal.

Whitehouse defeated Paris on penalty kicks after the two squads battled to as 1-1 tie in regulation. Brandon Nava scored on a free kick at the end of regulation and goalkeeper CJ Perry made three saves in penalty kicks.

The Wildcats also tied with Marshall 1-1 in the Consolation finals match. Wesley Fountain scored the goal during regulation. Perry again came through with timely saves during the penalty kicks.

Whitehouse started the 2018 season with a 3-1 victory over Grace, but finished in a 1-1 tie with Chapel Hill.

Whitehouse, 3-1-1, was scheduled to play at Athens Tuesday, Jan. 9, and will host Carlisle Friday, Jan. 12. The match will start at 5:30 p.m.

The Wildcats will host Hallsville at 7 p.m. (5:30 for junior varsity) Tuesday, Jan. 16, and will host Texas High Friday, Jan. 19. The matches will begin at 5:30 for junior varsity and 7 p.m. for varsity.
