Whitehouse man charged with murder


Martin Wesley Reynolds Jr., 21, of Whitehouse, was jailed Sunday, Nov. 5, on the charge of murder according to Smith County jail records.

“At 1:17 a.m., Smith County Sheriff’s Office received a 911 call reporting a shooting at a residence in the 8800 block of Deerwood Drive in Smith County,” states an SCSO press release.

“Smith County Sheriff’s Patrol deputies along with emergency personnel responded to the location where a male victim was found inside the residence with a gunshot wound. Witnesses at the location were performing CPR on the victim. EMS arrived and transported the victim to an area hospital where he was later pronounced deceased.”

Reynolds was identified “after he checked in to a local hospital for treatment of a gunshot wound to his leg” states the SCSO release.

He was arrested at the hospital he had gone to for treatment according to Public Information Officer, Sgt. Darrell Coslin.

Coslin stated that no reason for the shooting had been determined to his knowledge, but he did confirm there are witnesses who are cooperating with the investigation.

The deceased was identified as Andrew Carpenter, 19, of Tyler, as reported in the SCSO press release.
