WH netters place at Jacksonville


Sarah Teves won the Consolation title at the Jacksonville Tournament Friday, Feb. 2. The junior varsity played at a Tyler tournament Thursday, Feb. 1.

“This was a tougher tournament than Hallsville but our young team fought the elements and came home with some hardware,” said head coach Patrick Howard of the tournament at Jacksonville.

In addition to Teves, Coby Wellborn and Miles Brandt placed third in boys doubles A division, Victoria Bassham and Preston Peters captured third place in the mixed doubles, B division, and Gage Henson placed third in boys singles, B division.

The junior varsity played at Tyler in a tournament.

“It was a great day for us and our young team really shined even against Corsicana,” Howard said.

Perri Marshal and Miranda Davis captured first place in girls doubles (A); Dan Whitaker and Shameena Calimag placed first in mixed doubles (B); Karee Haney and Jayden Warner captured second place in girls doubles (B); Emily Clendenin was third in girls singles (B); LJ Almazon and Jacob Hyland took third placed in boys doubles (A); Koby Moulton and Jacob Sanders placed fifth in boys doubles (A); Devan Jones and Aly Whitaker placed eighth in mixed doubles (A); Salina Jiang was ninth (or the Consolation winner) in girls singles (A); Eva Malevanskaya and Danielle Sovia were ninth (or the Consolation winners) in girls doubles (B); Reagan Taylor and Nathan Bailey placed 16th in boys doubles (B).
