Turner, Teves consolation winners


Colton Turner and Sarah Teves each won the consolation title in the A bracket at a Corsicana tournament last week.

The duo of Coby Wellborn and Jillian Pagaduan placed fourth in the A bracket mixed doubles.

In the B bracket, Miles Brandt and Kaya Arthur placed second in mixed doubles; Grant Anderson was fourth in boys singles; Kaila Fraim place fifth in girls singles; the team of Kareena Jethva and Karlee Fulmer placed seventh in girls doubles; and the duo of Preston Peters and Gage Henson placed 13th in boys doubles.

“The kids are beginning to come around as we did in the fall,” said head coach Patrick Howard.  “We just have to believe that we belong. We are beginning to rack up the wins but the next several tournaments will be crucial in our continued growth.”

The junior varsity participated in Jacksonville last week. Collecting first place honors were Salina Jiang in girls singles and the team of Jacob Beaumont and Jack Panagl in boys doubles.

Shameena Calimag and Julius Asuncion captured consolation honors in mixed doubles and

Emily Clendenin and Reese Hester won the consolation title in girls doubles.

Victoria Bassham was third in girls singles, Peyton Kopecki placed second in boys singles and

Jacob Wood and Jacob Hyland placed second in boys doubles.
