Troup’s Emily Neel finished fourth in the State Class 3-A cross country meet at Old Settlers Park in Round Rock Saturday, Nov. 4.
Neel finished with a time of 11:54.83 in the two-mile run. She was edged out of third place by a second. Ellie Albrecht, a sophomore from Goliad, posted a time of 11:53.45.
There were 148 runners in the race and Jenna Brazeal , a junior from Little River Academy recorded the winning time of 11:36.90. Cryslan Tucker, a senior from White Oak, was second with a time of 11:44.6.
Neel was actually a second ahead of Albrecht at the one-mile split. Her time was 5:46, while Albrecht crossed the mark at 5:47.
Sabrina Garcia, a senior from Brownsville Frontier Prep, was fifth with a time of 11:56.12, and Kaylyn Tompkins, a junior from Mount Pleasant Chapel Hill, posted a time of 11:58.00 for sixth place. Ivy Guerra, a Tulia sophomore, crossed the finish line in seventh with a time of 11:58.99, and she was followed by Shaylee Shiller, a freshman from Wall (11:59.90), Selena Saldana, a Presidio senior (12:04.10) and Kaylee Johnson, a senior from Nacogdoches Central Heights (12:04.71) to round out the top ten runners.
In the boys division, Troup senior Will Hunter placed 82nd with a 5K time of 17:54.48.
