Whether there is rain or sunshine, the band plays on. Troup high school band members spent long hours at summer band camp over two weeks preparing for the new marching season.
Each morning began outside with marching fundamentals and working on the halftime show. Then the students moved indoors to rehearse music fundamentals and sheet music for this year’s theme, Salute to America.
Band director Robert Castillo, beginning his first year at Troup High School, is proud of the progress the students have made.
“They’ve made great progress given that I’m new,” Castillo said. “Naturally [there’s] a different set of expectations, and I think they’ve done a really good job. They’ve been very courteous and respectful and eager to learn.”
The Tiger Band drum major is junior Tatum Hunter. Attend the home game at 7 p.m. Friday, Sept. 1, to see the band’s performance during halftime.
