TCDC writes Troup’s name in the sky

One of the responsibilities of the Troup Community Development Corporation is to promote Troup as a great place to live, to go to school and to work. A recent move has taken the town to new heights.

Just south of Grande Boulevard on State Highway 110, the prominent square billboard on the west side of the road is now under contract with the TCDC. It currently honors the 2017 Class 3A State Champion golf team from Troup High School.

They liked the idea of investing in the billboard advertising after TCDC member Robbie Switzer presented it to the group several months ago. Public hearings were held before any money was spent. The measure was recently approved and Lamar Outdoor Advertising went to work.

TCDC president Gary Salyer says this is just the first of several posters that will be displayed in that location. Various businesses and organizations will be given the opportunity to be involved in the changes that are made throughout the year. The picture or message can be changed as often as the customer likes with what Salyer said was a reasonable fee.

“It is in a prime location and is very noticeable,” Salyer said. “We are very pleased with it and pretty excited about the opportunity. It will be another way to get Troup out there.”
