It is time again for the TASCA (Tyler Area Senior Citizens Association) Opry.
A night filled with country, bluegrass and good old rock’n’roll is set for Saturday, Feb. 18. Doors open at 6:30 p.m. and the show begins at 7:30 p.m.
Admission is $7 for TASCA members and $10 for non-members. There will be concessions to enjoy including CiCi’s Pizza.
“This is music for all ages,” organizer Sid Cox said. “It will be a family-friendly show in a family-friendly environment.”
There will be auditions for those who would like to perform on future shows. Sid says to bring your own music CD track. There will be no band to accompany those trying for a place on the stage. Come at 4 p.m. on the night of the monthly show – the third Saturday of the month – and give it your best shot. Artists are not paid for their performances.
This new program added to the monthly TASCA events was a big hit at its debut in January.
TASCA Executive Director Rick Gabehart said the organization is excited to have the opry come to TASCA.
“We hope this will grow into something that would bring performers in on other Saturday nights for country and western dances.”
There will be a small dance floor for those who just can’t keep their seat when the music fills the air.
Each month the evening ends with a patriotic selection and veterans in the audience are honored for their service.
TASCA is located at 10495 CR 2167 (Jim Russell Road) in Whitehouse, right off of Highway 110.
