Rozy Wyatt, 88, of Longview, passed away on Dec 23 in Longview, Texas. Services will be held at the New Horizons Church of God in Longview at 1 p.m. Friday, Dec. 29, with Pastor Leon Gregory officiating.
Mrs. Wyatt was a born again Christian for most of her life. She was an active member of the New Horizons Church of God for over 70 years and was faithful in attendance to her church. She also had her own nursing home ministry for many years where she brought the word of God, prayer and hope to those she visited every week until she was 84 years old. Rozy was a volunteer for Texas Department of Criminal Justice and was deeply involved in Heavenbound Ministries, which held services and gospel singings, spreading the word of God to inmates, with her daughter at multiple Texas prison units. During the Christmas season she was devoted to bringing a gift to every inmate and employee at the Powledge unit through Heavenbound Ministries. For 20 years she helped to prepare and deliver these gifts. She was loved by over 5,000 men in TDCJ who called her Mama. Roxy was seen most frequently with her daughter, spreading the gospel to the homeless throughout East Texas and passing out food bags to those in need, over the last 35 years.
Rozy was truly a precious woman of God who will be missed greatly by her family, friends and all whose life she so richly gave herself to. She was loved, wanted and needed by many.
She is survived by her daughter Brenda Gray and husband Larry of Gladewater; son-in-law Jerry Rogers of Gladewater; sister Molly Richardson of Tyler; grandchildren Trent Gray and wife March, Sabrina Rogers, Heath Rogers and wife Holly; great grandchildren Randy Wakefield, Royce Gray, Kristen Fleming, Stephanie Whitlock, Rachel, Robert and Becky Dominguez; great great-grandchildren Eli Fleming and Ella Whitlock as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
