National Skilled Nursing Home Week celebrated

Oak Brook Health Care Center in Whitehouse is commemorating National Skilled Nursing Home Week, which is Sunday-Saturday, May 13-19. The center will be celebrating life stories of residents and holding daily events in recognition of this special week.

Sunday, May 13, is Mother’s Day and Oak Brook will host a Mother’s Day tea with finger foods at 2 p.m. Family members are invited and entertainment will be provided.

At 10 a.m. Monday, May 14, Oak Brook will host an open house and Nursing Home Week will be proclaimed. Beginning at 10 a.m. and ending at noon, Legacy Hospice will offer free blood pressure and diabetes screening. At 2 p.m. an resident scavenger hunt will commence.

Tuesday, May 15, the center will host Farm Day Fun with a shooting contest, petting zoo and a lunch-time cookout provided for residents and employees by Heart to Heart Hospice. Employees and residents are encouraged to wear their western wear for the day.

Blow out bingo will take place from 2-4 p.m. Wednesday, May 16. The community and friends are invited to attend. Refreshments will be served and prizes awarded.

Thursday, May 17, will be A Day at the Beach. Summer time games and crafts will be offered along with a sandcastle building contest. A lunch-time cookout and tiki bar will be provided for residents. Employees and residents are encouraged to wear their summer gear.
