Whitehouse Mayor Charles Parker addressed the members of the Whitehouse Sports Commission during their initial meeting Tuesday, April 3.
“I want to thank you all from the bottom of my heart for volunteering,” Parker stated. “Serving your community in any way you can is certainly a great thing for all of us and I appreciate you stepping forward to do that.”
Members of the commission include Jason Beaton, Brian Cook, Stuart Meisenheimer, Jay Morris, Chase Wilson, Nicholas Wright and Wendy Velin. The first order of business for the group was to elect a chair and vice chair. Meisenheimer and Morris were voted into those offices respectively.
Angie Nunez of Infinity Volleyball Club spoke to the commission about community interest in volleyball. The club had three teams during the past season and the number of girls wanting to play is increasing. Nunez noted that there was a need for coaches to keep pace growth and there was even interest in developing a boy’s volleyball team.

The Sports Commission will hold regular meetings at 6 p.m. on the first Tuesday of each month.
