After a disappointing loss to Hallsville to open District 16-5A volleyball competition, Whitehouse looked to rebound at Jacksonville Tuesday, Sept. 11, and when the Ladycats host Pine Tree at 4:30 p.m. Friday, Sept. 14.
The Lady Bobcats jumped out to a 25-19 victory in the first game of the match hosted by Whitehouse last week. The Ladycats tried to pick up some momentum in the second game but Hallsville was able to hold on for a 25-16 victory. The Lady Bobcats carried the edge through the third game for a 25-17 win to claim the match.
Briana Brown posted eight kills in the match.
In the junior varsity contest, Hallsville recorded a 25-21, 25-14, 25-15 victory. The Lady Bobcats also defeated Whitehouse in the freshmen match to sweep the action.
Whitehouse defeated Longview in the final match of the pre-district schedule last week. The Ladycats were able to fight for a 25-20 win in the first game of the match. Longview traded point-for-point with Whitehouse for most of the second game before the Ladycats prevailed 25-23. The third game was also close but Whitehouse pulled away for a 25-22 win for the match.
Standouts for the Longview match included Kate Idrogo, who posted four ace serves and 13 digs. Briana Brown recorded 10 kills and Hope Casel had three blocks. Additionally, Lauren Hannah posted 13 assists and Ashlee Taylor helped lead the defense with 13 digs.
Longview defeated Whitehouse in the junior varsity match, 25-14, 14-25, 25-19. The teams split the freshmen matches. The Whitehouse Maroon team won 25-8, 25-10, while the White squad lost 24-26, 22-25.
