Ladycats fall in bi-district volleyball playoff match


A 30-win season is always a milestone in volleyball, but the Whitehouse Ladycats would have loved to make it 31.

Whitehouse faced Bryan High School in bi-district action last week. The Lady Vikings put the Ladycats is survival mode with a 25-19 win in the first game of the match, followed by a 25-18 victory in the second game.

Down by two games, Whitehouse could not lose another game and the Ladycats responded with a 25-16 victory in the third game.

Unfortunately for Whitehouse, the Lady Vikings were able to bounce back for a 25-19 victory in the fourth game to seal the match.

Sydney Malmstrom was a force at the net and she posted 11 kills and 2 blocks. Briana Brown also was stout at the net with nine kills and Kaitlyn Wood added seven kills and a trio blocks to the team totals. Grace Hendricks finished with 18 assists and Macy Smith paced the defensive effort with 32 digs.

Whitehouse concluded the season with a 30-11 record. The Ladycats were second in the final district standings.
