The Lady Tigers are preparing for a run through the district volleyball schedule.
Troup will open loop competition at Harmony starting at 4:30 p.m. Friday, Sept. 8. The Lady Tigers will travel to Sabine for their next district match at 4:30 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 12.
The Lady Tigers split their matches last week, including a win over Waskom but they fell to Gilmer.
Troup eased past Waskom 25-21 in the first game of the match, and had a bit more breathing room in a 25-14 win in the second game. The Lady Tigers breezed to a 25-13 win over the Ladycats in the third set.
Hansen Reid paced the defensive effort for the Lady Tigers with 25 digs in the match. Asia Parker posted 10 kills, a dig and four ace serves, while Kori Minnix dominated net action with 13 kills. She also had four digs.
Also for Troup, Savanna Cox finished with eight kills, an ace serve and two digs; Alex Flora recorded five digs, two aces and three kills; Natalie Davenport added 29 assists, seven digs, two kills and an ace serve to the team totals. Jayla Starks had two kills and Alyssa Flora finished with five digs.
Gilmer had the strong start in the match with Troup earlier last week. The Lady Buckeyes jumped out to a 25-13 win in the first set, but the Lady Tigers evened the match with a 25-17 win in the second game. It was all Gilmer in the third set as the Lady Buckeyes breezed to a 25-5 victory, but the Lady Tigers bounced back with a stronger showing in the fourth game. Gilmer was able to edge Troup 25-23 in the final game for the match.
Of the team’s 75 digs, Alex Flora recorded 18, Reid added 15, Minnix finished with a dozen and Davenport had 16. Cox also added eight digs to the total.
Parker led the team at the net with nine kills, and Minnix recorded half a dozen. Davenport finished with three kills. Parker also had three blocks and two ace serves, and Minnix had one block and a trio of ace serves.
For the season, the Lady Tigers are 10-10. At the net, Minnix has 164 kills and Parker has 120. Davenport has 287 assists, and Cox leads the squad with 27 ace serves. Davenport and Parker each have 22 ace serves.
Parker’s 27 blocks leads that category, and Reid is the team leader with 198 digs. Alex Flora has 150 digs, Minnix has recorded 145 and Davenport has 140 digs.
