John William Phillips


Graveside services for John William Phillips, 79, of Whitehouse were held April 5 at with Pastor Tony McCoy officiating. Service will be at Bascom Cemetery, Tyler.

He passed away on March 28, 2017, at East Texas Hospice of Tyler.

John was born on Jan. 21, 1938, in Birmingham Alabama to his late mother Jesse B. Purdy and father Alfred Goodwin Phillips.

John was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather to his family. He also was a veteran of the National Guard.

Later in life, John enjoyed volunteering in local public schools.

He is survived by his wife Jacqueline Phillips of Whitehouse; son John William Phillips II of Birmingham Alabama; daughter Tracye Lynn Phillips Browne of Tyler; Grandchildren John Andrew Browne, Jeffry Alan Browne, Ryan Edward Hopper; and great-grandchildren Alexis Danielle Browne and Noah Michael Browne

In addition to his parents, John was preceded in death by his daughter Leslie Denise Phillips Hopper; brothers A.G. Phillips and Hillary Hugo Phillips.
