Grand jury indicts area residents

In the 114th Judicial District Court on Feb. 16, Patrick Calley, 32, of Troup was indicted on a charge of Burglary of a Building. The arrest was made by the Smith County Sheriff’s Office on Jan. 10.

Rebecca Cook, 18, of Troup was indicted on Burglary of a Habitation on Dec. 27, 2016. Cook’s bail was set at $55,000 and she remained in jail at the time of indictment.

Nicholas Jenkins, 20, of Arp received two indictments. The charges were for Theft of Firearm and Burglary of Habitation. The offenses are said to have taken place on Dec. 27, 2016 and the arrest was made by the Smith County Sheriff’s Office on Jan. 13. Bail for the theft offense was set at $75,000 and $100,000 for the burglary. At the time of indictment, the defendant remained in the Smith County Jail.

Tosha Washington, 40, of Whitehouse was indicted for Assault Against Public Servant. The arrest was made on Jan. 8 by Whitehouse PD. Her bond was set at $25,000.

On Feb. 23 in the 241st Judicial District Court, a Smith County grand jury convened and indicted Laura Bettinger, 64, of Whitehouse on a charge of Driving While Intoxicated on May 22, 2016. Her bond was set at $5,000.
