First Baptist Church to host Fire in the Sky
First Baptist Church of Troup, located at 935 Highway 135 South, will host a carnival-style event Friday, June 29. Beginning at 5 p.m., the church will offer carnival rides, train car rides, bounce houses, hotdogs and hamburgers and a message by Pastor Joe Ballard. Fireworks will be presented by The Woodchuck Bomb Squad. Attendees are encouraged to bring lawn chairs. For more information, call (903) 842-3091.
Pleasant Hill to “Celebrate America”
The Pleasant Hill Baptist Church, 13590 State Highway 110 South, will host Celebrate America, an Independence Day fireworks show Tuesday, July 3. The event begins at 6:30 p.m. and features free hotdogs and watermelon, an illusionist, live music by 6 Miles to Mixon and food truck vendors. Entry is free. Republic Services in Whitehouse picks up recycling on Wednesday. Recyclable items include paper, newspaper, cardboard, plastic, aluminum cans and tin cans.
Troup has a self-service recycling receptacle. The Allied Waste Recycling bin is located at the corner of W. Bradford and N. Georgia.
Jam session and sing along
Jam session and sing along runs from 1:30 to 4 p.m. each Friday. Everyone is welcome to attend and participate. Acoustic instruments only. Music includes Country, Bluegrass and Gospel. TASCA members are free. Guests are $1 each. TASCA is located at 10495 CR 2167 (Jim Russell Rd), in Whitehouse.

American Legion in Troup at 301 Magnolia has pool tournaments beginning at 7 p.m. each Wednesday night.
