HCUMC hosts fifth Sunday singing
A Fifth Sunday Singing will be held at the Henry’s Chapel United Methodist Church, located at 4539 FM 13 E, 6 miles east of Troup. The program will begin at 6:00 p.m. Sunday, April 29, and afterwards guests will be treated to a hamburger cook-out. The HCUMC choir will be featured as well as several guest musicians. Everyone is welcome!
Prince of Peach church to host Springfest
The Prince of Peace Catholic Church, 903 East Main Street, will host Springfest from 10 a.m.-2:30 p.m. Saturday, May 5. The event includes family fun, free games, silent auction and door prizes. For more information, contact Frank Ward at (903) 574-0477.
AARP Driver Safety Class to be held
There will be an AARP Driver Safety class at Green Acres Baptist Church, 1607 Troup Hwy, from 12:30-4:30 p.m. Wednesday, May 2. The cost is $15 for AARP members and $20 for non-members. The class is open to all drivers with a valid driver’s license but is geared to participants over 50. After completion of the class, you may be eligible for a discount on your automobile insurance premium. Checks made out to AARP. We are also looking for Volunteer Instructors. Troup Rotary Club to host crawfish boil
The Troup Rotary Club will host its fifth annual crawfish boil Friday, May 4, at the Troup Bank and Trust parking lot, 103 E. Duval Street. The event begins at noon and ends at 6 p.m. or when the 1,000 pounds of crawfish are sold out. Crawfish costs $6 per pound and can be pre-ordered by calling (903) 539-4507 or (903) 842-5100. Proceeds go towards scholarships for Troup High School seniors.
Daylily society to present beekeeping program
Peter Cole, 2018 East Texas Beekeepers Association Senior Ambassador and Jacob Cole, 2017 ETBA Senior Ambassador will present their program at a special 1st Sunday meeting at 2 p.m. May 6th in the Azalea Room at the Tyler Rose Center, 420 Rose Center Drive, Tyler, Texas. Admission is free and open to the public.
Republic Services in Whitehouse picks up recycling on Wednesday. Recyclable items include paper, newspaper, cardboard, plastic, aluminum cans and tin cans. Troup has a self-service recycling receptacle. The Allied Waste Recycling bin is located at the corner of W. Bradford and N. Georgia.
Jam session and sing along
Jam session and sing along runs from 1:30 to 4 p.m. each Friday. Everyone is welcome to attend and participate. Acoustic instruments only. Music includes Country, Bluegrass and Gospel. TASCA members are free. Guests are $1 each. TASCA is located at 10495 CR 2167 (Jim Russell Rd), in Whitehouse.
