Tyler Aggie Moms to hold garage sale

The annual Tyler Aggie Moms garage sale will be Saturday, April 7, (weather permitting) at the  Aggie Barn located on the corner of State Highway 110 and F.M. 344 south of Whitehouse. Doors open at 7:30 a.m. For weather updates and postponement date if necessary, visit www.tyleraggiemoms.com. 

East Texas Daylily Society to meet

The monthly meeting of the East Texas Daylily Society will be held from 2-4 p.m. Sunday, April 8, in the Camellia Room of the Tyler Rose Garden Center located at 420 Rose Park Drive. There will be a plant auction. The meeting is open to the public. Admission and parking are free.

Keep Whitehouse Beautiful to meet

Keep Whitehouse Beautiful will meet at noon on Monday, April 9, in the city council chambers. The public is welcome to attend and volunteers are needed. KWB works with community members to make Whitehouse a more pleasing place to live through litter prevention, beautification and waste reduction. Join us for some meaningful fun.

Cherokee Co. Genealogical society to meet

The next regular meeting of the Cherokee County Genealogical Society will be held at 5 p.m. Monday, April 9, at the First United Methodist Church located at 1031 Southeast Loop 456 in Jacksonville. Anyone interested in researching their family history and genealogy is invited.

National Society DAR to meet

The Major Thaddeus Beall Chapter of the National Society Daughters of the American Revolution (NSDAR) will meet at 2 p.m. Thursday, April 12, at the First United Methodist Church located at 1031 Southeast Loop 456 in Jacksonville. 

Recycle-Recycle-Recycle

Republic Services in Whitehouse picks up recycling on Wednesday. Recyclable items include paper, newspaper, cardboard, plastic, aluminum cans and tin cans. Troup has a self-service recycling receptacle. The Allied Waste Recycling bin is located at the corner of W. Bradford and N. Georgia.

Jam session and sing along

Jam session and sing along runs from 1:30 to 4 p.m. each Friday. Everyone is welcome to attend and participate. Acoustic instruments only. Music includes Country, Bluegrass and Gospel. TASCA members are free. Guests are $1 each. TASCA is located at 10495 CR 2167 (Jim Russell Rd), in Whitehouse. 

American Legion weekly events

American Legion in Troup at 301 Magnolia has pool tournaments beginning at 7 p.m. each Wednesday night. 

Senior Activities

The Tyler Area Senor Citizens Association is open to the public, 9:00 a.m.-4:30 p.m. TASCA’s schedule includes the following events: 

Thursday, April 5: Pinochle, 9 a.m.; 42 group (straight), 12 p.m.; Hand and foot, 12:30 p.m.; Mah jongg, 12:30 p.m; 

Friday, April 6: Coffee social group; 9:30 a.m., Fitness exercise with Certified Instructor for Older Adults, 9:30 a.m.; Practice bridge, 12:00 p.m.; Sing along/jamming, 1:30 p.m.

Saturday, April 7: Country Western Dance featuring Caddo Creek.

Monday, April 9: Coffee social group, 9:30 a.m.; 42 group, 12 p.m.; Mah Jongg, 1 p.m.

 Tuesday, April 10: “84” group, 8:45 a.m.; Beginner bridge, 10 a.m.; Ballroom dance lessons, 11 a.m.; Potluck luncheon, 11:30-1 p.m.; Bridge, 12:00 p.m.; Joker and Hand & Foot, 1:00 p.m.; Mexican train, 5:45 p.m.; Ballroom dance lessons, 7:30-8:30 p.m.

Youth/School Activities

The National Honor Society of Troup High School is hosting a parking lot sale at the old bank across from the library in downtown Troup. The sale will run from 8 a.m.-2 p.m. Saturday, April 7. The proceeds of the sale will benefit Troup Women’s Civic Organization’s (TWCO) scholarship fund.
