NSDAR to meet
The next regular meeting of the Major Thaddeus Beall Chapter, National society Daughters of the American Revolution (NSDAR) is 2 p.m. Thursday, March 8, at the First United Methodist Church, 1031 SE Loop 456, Jacksonville. East Texas Daylily Society to meet
The East Texas Daylily Society will hold an open forum from 2-4 p.m. Sunday, March 11, in the Azalea Room at the Tyler rose Center, 420 Rose Center Drive, Tyler Texas. If you have questions about daylilies or gardening in general, come out and enjoy the fun and find out why daylilies are the perfect perennial. Admission is free. New members are welcome.
Keep Whitehouse Beautiful to meet
Keep Whitehouse Beautiful meets at noon on Monday, March 12, at City Council Chambers. The public is welcome to attend and volunteers are needed. KWB works with community members to make Whitehouse a more pleasing place to live through litter prevention, beautification and waste reduction. Please join us for some meaningful fun.
CCGS to meet
The Cherokee County Genealogical Society will meet at 5 p.m., Monday, March 12, at the First United Methodist Church, 1031 SE Loop 456, Jacksonville. The program topic is “A Marriage of Convenience between Archeological and Genealogical Research,” and will be presented by George Avery of Nacogdoches. “Pot luck” refreshments will be provided by CCGS embers following the meeting. Wildcat Extension Education Club to meet
The Wildcat Extension Education Club will meet from 10 a.m. to noon on Tuesday, March 13, at the meeting room of the Regions Bank, 1125 State Highway 110 in Whitehouse. Smith Extension Education workshop
A canning workshop is scheduled for 10 a.m. Saturday, March 24, at the Cotton Belt Building, Suite #116A, 1516 West Front Street. Whether you enjoy gardening or going to the farmer’s market, we can teach you how to “can” your purchases. The workshop is $25 per person and checks can be made payable to Smith EEA. Republic Services in Whitehouse picks up recycling on Wednesday. Recyclable items include paper, newspaper, cardboard, plastic, aluminum cans and tin cans. Troup has a self-service recycling receptacle. The Allied Waste Recycling bin is located at the corner of W. Bradford and N. Georgia.
Jam session and sing along
Jam session and sing along runs from 1:30 to 4 p.m. each Friday. Everyone is welcome to attend and participate. Acoustic instruments only. Music includes Country, Bluegrass and Gospel. TASCA members are free. Guests are $1 each. TASCA is located at 10495 CR 2167 (Jim Russell Rd), in Whitehouse.
