Baptist Missionary Theological Seminary

John Brent Bockmon graduated from the Baptist Missionary Theological Seminary with his Master of Arts in Religion Saturday, May 19.

Bockmon has a 2015 Bachelor of Arts in Religion from the BMA Seminary. He is currently the high school history teacher at Trinity Charter Schools of Texas and will also be teaching history at Jacksonville College starting this summer. Bockmon will be furthering his education pursuing a PhD in Theological and Historical Studies from Liberty University.

Howard Payne University

Howard Payne University awarded degrees to 119 graduates during its Commencement ceremony held at the close of the spring 2018 semester.

Students must have a 3.55-3.69 grade-point average to graduate Cum Laude; a 3.70-3.84 GPA to graduate Magna Cum Laude; and a 3.85-4.0 GPA to graduate Summa Cum Laude.

Graduates included Matthew Paul Gipson, of Whitehouse, Bachelor of Applied Arts and Sciences in general studies and Andrew K. Stevenson, of Whitehouse, Bachelor of Arts in social studies composite (high school: grade 7-12), Magna Cum Laude .

Ouachita Baptist University

Ouachita Baptist University has named approximately 350 students to its spring 2018 Dean’s List. The students will be included in the “National Dean’s List” for 2017-18. To be named to the Dean’s List, a student must compile at least a 3.5 grade point average and be classified as a full-time student, with a minimum of 12 academic hours.

Mollie Eldridge, of Whitehouse, was among students named to the Dean’s List.

Rogers State University

Rogers State University has announced its President’s and Dean’s Honor Rolls for the spring 2018 semester.

To qualify for the President’s Honor Roll, students must complete a minimum of 12 credit hours with a 4.0 grade point average. To qualify for the Dean’s Honor Roll, students must complete a minimum of 12 credit hours with a 3.5 grade point average.

Suvannah K. Kerans-Melton, of Whitehouse, was named to the President’s Honor Roll.

Rogers State University also announced its fall and spring graduates who received degrees during the university’s recent commencement ceremonies.

RSU awarded eight master’s degrees, 313 bachelor’s degrees and 184 associate degrees to students who successfully completed their course of study during the fall 2017 and spring 2018 semesters.

Suvannah Kate Kerans-Melton, of Whitehouse, was among the graduates and earned a Bachelor of Science degree.

Sam Houston State University

The students listed on the Dean’s List of Academic Honors at Sam Houston State University in Huntsville, Texas, are undergraduates who have achieved a grade point average of at least 3.5 out of a perfect 4.0 in all work attempted while enrolled in not less than 12 semester hours.

The university recognizes the following students from Whitehouse for earning the honor for the spring 2018 semester: Amanda Lee, James Nipp and Spencer Thurman.
