Troup’s Emily Neel won her third and fourth cross country race in as many meets this season with first place showings at the Hallsville Cross Country Invitational Friday, Sept. 15, and at the East Texas Invitational at New Summerfield Saturday, Sept. 16. Led by Will Hunter, the Troup boys placed 10th in the team standings at the New Summerfield meet and Alex Flor finished second at the Hallsville meet to lead the Tigers to a 10th place showing at that meet. Neel outraced 109 other runners in the varsity 6A and 5A division at Hallsville with a time of 18:53.7 in the 5K race. She was the only Troup runner to participate in that division. more

The “warm-ups” are over. Whitehouse opens District 17-5A action hosting Nacogdoches Friday, Sept. 22. The varsity match will begin at 4:30 p.m. Head coach Britney Nordin and the Ladycats enter loop competition with an outstanding 21-8 pre-district record (not including the Henderson match played Tuesday, Sept. 19). Whitehouse defeated Pleasant Grove but lost to All Saints last week. more
Whitehouse placed 12th in the boys division and ninth in the girls division at the Hallsville Cross Country Invitational Friday, Sept. 15. Ashley Smith has established herself as the team leader for the Ladycats, and Spencer Otero continues to pace the Wildcats this season. more
Whitehouse captured 13 of 19 matches with Nacogdoches in District 17-5A tennis action last week. The Wildcats and Ladycats hosted Corsicana Tuesday, Sept. 19, and will play at Ennis Tuesday, Sept. 26. Action will begin at 3:30 p.m. Hosting the Dragons, Whitehouse winners in singles matches included Miles Brandt, Julius Asuncion, Preston Peters, LJ Almazan, Jillian Pagaduan, Kaila Fraim, Miranda Davis, Kaya Arthur, Perri Marshall and Danielle Sovia. Doubles winners were Coby Wellborn and Miles Brandt; Grant Anderson and LJ Almazan; Kaila Fraim and Sarah Teves; Miranda Davis and Perri Marshall; and Preston Peters and Danielle Sovia. more

Spinning her way to the National Baton Twirling Association World Open and USA competition was Kaylee Williams. Located in South Bend, Ind. the America’s Youth on Parade national baton twirling competition is an event held at Notre Dame University. Kaylee, a senior at Whitehouse High School, had the honor of representing the southwest United States. more
Clayton Cook rushed for 116 yards and three touchdowns to help Whitehouse keep a perfect record for the football season. Whitehouse and Chapel Hill renewed the Lake Tyler rivalry as the first game in the 14th annual Christus Trinity Mother Frances Football Classic Thursday, Sept. 7, at Earl Campbell Field in the CTMF Rose Stadium in Tyler. more
