For Troup, it was not a good time for the Arp offense to finally break out. The game Friday, Oct. 27, was not only a renewal of a long-standing rivalry, it also was an important district game. The Arp offense had been stagnant at best in recent weeks, scoring 33 points in four district games (8.2 average) and failing to score in three games this season. more
In a battle of unbeaten District 9-3A, Division II teams, West Rusk shut out Waskom 21-0 Friday, Oct. 27. The Raiders now stand alone in the unbeaten ranks among loop teams at 4-0. Waskom fell to 3-1 but the Wildcats still hold the edge for the second seed over Elysian Fields with a win over the Yellow Jackets two weeks ago. more
As expected, the varsity volleyball match between Whitehouse and Lindale was very competitive. After the Lady Eagles won the first two games of the match, the Ladycats responded by winning the next two games. In the tie-breaking fifth game, it came down to the final moments and Lindale was able to hold on for the win. more
Troup is a perennial playoff contender and this season was no different. The Lady Tigers played New Diana at LeTourneau University Monday, Oct. 30, in the first round of the playoffs. The results will be posted in the next edition of the Tri County Leader. Troup was unable to defeat West Rusk in the regular season finale. Winona captured the District 15-3A crown after the Troup loss. more
It has been a great start for Troup and Whitehouse anglers who are participating in the Texas High School Bass Association tournaments. At the Oct. 21 tournament at the Lake O’ the Pines, the Troup duo of Rowdy Howell and Walker Adams placed first out of 132 teams. The pair finished with a total weight of 17.94 pounds, including one bass that tipped the scales at 5.60 pounds. more

On a night when the offense struggled, the defense held things together to help the Wildcats pull out a 14-11 victory in District 17-5A competition Friday, Oct. 27. With the results, Whitehouse is in position for a spot in the playoffs. The Wildcats improved to 2-1 in the district standings and 5-3 for the season. Whitehouse will play at Corsicana Friday, Nov. 3, for the final road game of the regular season. The Tigers handily defeated Lindale 35-24 to remain unbeaten at 3-0 in the loop standings. more
