It is difficult to take first place in a weight class with more than 200 lifters participating. Troup’s Katie York and D’Marea Sueing of Whitehouse accomplished that goal at the Bullard Powerlifting Meet Saturday, Feb. 18. Ramiro Martinez paced the Troup boys with a second place showing in his weight class. more

Whitehouse finished the regular season as District 17-5A co-champions and advanced to the bi-district round of the State playoffs Monday. The Wildcats faced Bryan Rudder in the first round Monday, Feb. 20. The Rangers dominated action early and pulled away for a 76-42 victory over the Wildcats. Whitehouse ended the season with a 22-10 record. more
The 66th Annual Collin Street Bakery/Texas Sports Writers Association’s All-State football teams honored players in all classifications. Javier Neal of Whitehouse was named to the Class-5A roster, while Troup’s Marquil Davis was named to the Class-3A squad. Several Arp players also were named to the Class-3A roster including Demarvion Overshown, Mack Stroupe, Kayce Medlock and Terry Nance. more
The Ladycats mined silver at the Carthage softball tournament Feb. 16-18, winning four of six outings. Whitehouse opened the 2017 season with a 16-6 victory over Brook Hill and, following the results of the Carthage Tournament, improved to 5-2. The Ladycats are scheduled to play in the Allen Tournament Thursday through Saturday, Feb. 23-25. Whitehouse also is slated to participate in the Hallsville Tournament Thursday through Saturday, March 2-4. more
