Kori Minnix owned the net and Jansen Reid, Alex Flora and Natalie Davenport made sure the ball stayed in play with strong defensive support in varsity volleyball action Friday, Sept. 29. The Lady Tigers hosted West Rusk in District 15-3A action and Troup jumped out to a 25-17 win in the first game of the match. The Lady Raiders rallied in the second game and they held off Troup for a 25-22 win to even the match. more
Emily Neel continued her quest to finish first in every cross country meet this season. She won the Elkhart Invitational Cross Country meet Friday, Sept. 27. Neel was first among 135 runners with the top time of 12:11 in the 2-mile run. more
For the sixth consecutive season, Whitehouse defeated Sulphur Springs posting a 28-6 win last week. It was also the best defensive effort for the Whitehouse Wildcats, who improved to 3-1 for the season. Cameron Cantrell caught touchdown passes of 33, 17, 66 and the final one for 27 yards to help Whitehouse roar to victory over the Sulphur Springs Wildcats. Whitehouse will conclude the pre-district schedule at Kennedale Friday, Sept. 29. Kickoff will be at 7:30 p.m. more
As the teams prepare for their final tune-ups this week, District 17-5A schools posted a perfect record in last week’s gridiron action. The Ennis Lions, who have played tough opponents including Class-6A teams, won their first game with a vengeance beating Kimball 82-7. Whitehouse overwhelmed Sulphur Springs 28-6 and Jacksonville ran over Mt. Pleasant 34-18. more

It’s time to start counting marbles for District 9-3A, Division II teams. The pre-district football schedule is complete and Beckville remains unscathed in four outings. The Bearcats are 4-0 after finishing the pre-district slate with a 48-34 victory over Hemphill. more
With the goal of advancing into the playoffs, it is always best to win the first district match. Whitehouse took that first step with a sweep over Nacogdoches in the District 17-5A debut. The Ladycats improved to 23-8 for the season and are unblemished at 1-0 in the district standings. After falling to eight-ranked Winona for their first district loss, the Lady Tigers swept Cumberland Academy to improve to 3-1 in the District 15-3A standings last week. Troup played at Arp Tuesday, Sept. 26, and will host West Rusk starting at 5:30 p.m. Friday, Sept. 29. The Lady Tigers will host Harmony at 4:30 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 3. more
Alicia Gurrusquieta and Ashley Smith finished among the top 15 and Haris Khan was in the top 20 at the Pine Tree Puddle Jump and Pig Trot Friday, Sept. 22. The Ladycats captured third place in the team standings with 113 points, and the Wildcats placed ninth with 215 points. more
Corsicana won a dozen of 19 tennis matches with Whitehouse last week. The Ladycats and Wildcats were slated to play at Ennis Tuesday, Sept. 26, and will host Lindale starting at 3:30 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 3. more
