Whitehouse’s Walker LaRue placed ninth in the Martin Lawrence Junior Open at the Dallas Athletic Club June 11-12. LaRue carded a 78-70—148 to place among the top ten in a field of 71 linksters. Matthew Griggs of Prosper fired a 69-66—135 to win the tournament. Matthew Watkins of Heath placed second after he posted a 73-67—140. The tournament was hosted by the North Texas PGA Junior Tour. more
Hilltop Country Club in Troup hosted the Senior Scramble Tuesday, June 19. The winning team at minus -11 included John Covington, Coy Olson, Sue Olson and John Snell. In the closest-to-the-pin contest, Ken Starnes won the third green (46.5 inches) and Sue Olson won the sixth green (343.5 inches). more
Whitehouse Wildcats season football tickets will go on sale Monday, July 16. The tickets sale is late due to district construction.  Letters will be sent to the season ticket holders in July with the details.  All other fans will purchase season tickets starting Monday, Aug. 6. more
The new University Interscholastic League realignments certainly will determine school travel budgets for students in athletics and academics. Whitehouse was selected to be part of District 9-5A, Division II for football only. The district includes Hallsville, Jacksonville, Lindale, Longview Pine Tree, Marshall, Mount Pleasant and Nacogdoches. more

Hilltop County Club in Troup hosted the annual Pete McCarty Memorial Tournament June 2-3. In the Championship Flight, Brian Baker and JR Ault fired a 57-58—115 to claim the top score. Also in the flight, Adam Renfroe and Andrew Bloch fired a 55-63—118 for third place. more

It has become an annual summer tradition. For several years, the Whitehouse 7-on-7 football team has advanced to the State championships and this year is no exception. Whitehouse qualified by winning the State qualifying tournament last weekend at Lindsey Park in Tyler. With a 34-33 victory over Lindale in the tournament semifinal match, Whitehouse will advance to the State championships (sponsored by Adidas) which will be June 28-30 at Veterans Park and Athletic Complex, 3101 Harvey Road, in College Station. more
