Ty Moon contributed 13 points and five assists and Asia Parker scored 15 points and grabbed seven steals to help propel Troup to a 56-26 victory over Carlisle in varsity basketball competition last week. Troup improved to 7-1 for the season and was slated to play All Saints Tuesday, Dec. 5. The Lady Tigers will play in the Harleton Tournament Thursday through Saturday, Dec. 7-9. District 15-3A competition will start Tuesday, Dec. 12, when Troup hosts Arp. The varsity game will start at 6:30 p.m. more
Whitehouse won three of five games in the Hudson Tournament last week. Following the tourney results, the Wildcats moved to 5-2 for the basketball season. The Wildcats were scheduled to play at Robert E. Lee Tuesday, Dec. 5, and will travel to play in the Bulldog Tournament in Burkburnett Thursday through Saturday, Dec. 7-9. The next scheduled contest will be at Mt. Pleasant at 5 p.m. Friday, Dec. 15. Whitehouse defeated Marshall, Hudson and Texas High but lost to Central and Humble at the Hudson Tournament. more
After scoring from 47 to 59 points in the earlier games of the Elkhart Tournament last week, the Eustace defense stymied Troup in the tournament title game. The Bulldogs edged the Tigers 27-26 in a defensive battle for the championship. Troup defeated Bullard 59-43, the Tigers topped Cross Roads 47-26 and dominated Oakwood 58-31 to advance to the tournament title game with Eustace. more
Led by the team of Trent Bookman and Elijah Focht, Whitehouse won the team Lake Fork Tournament in the Texas High School Bass Association tournaments Saturday, Nov. 18. At the tournament, Bookman and Focht placed third overall with a catch of 8.03 pounds. Fish the length of 16 to 24 inches were not eligible to count toward the weight total, according to the rules of the lake, so the overall results were lower than usual. more
Sydney Malmstrom was named the All-District 17-5A volleyball Most Valuable Player, an honor she shared with Lindale senior Alisha Kiser. Malmstrom, a senior, led the Ladycats to second place in the district standings and a trip to the playoffs. Sophomore Briana Brown was named Hitter of the Year and Macy Smith, also a senior, received the Defensive Player of the Year honors. Grace Hendricks, also a senior, was named Setter of the Year. more
Grant Anderson of Whitehouse placed second in the Challenger Tournament in Tyler over the weekend. Also from Whitehouse, Miles Brandt was a consolation finalist, Colton Turner lost in the semifinals and Coby Wellborn fell in the second round. more
District 9-3A is still represented in the State football playoffs but not by district champion West Rusk. The West Rusk Raiders were upended by defensive powerhouse Newton 21-7 in the regional round of the playoffs. Waskom, however, tripped Garrison 57-28 to advance to the quarterfinal round. Waskom will play Newton for the right to advance to the semifinal round. more

As a tune-up for the remainder of the pre-district schedule, the Lady Tigers improved to 6-1 for the season after they throttled New Summerfield 41-17 last week. Troup was slated to host Carlisle Tuesday, Nov. 28, and will next host All Saints at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 5. Troup also will play in the Harleton Tournament Thursday through Saturday, Dec. 7-9. more
The Ladycats and Wildcats each opened the TABO Inc. Basketball Scholarship Classic with a win at Wildcat Arena last week. The Ladycats overwhelmed West Rusk 57-21, while the Wildcats held off Spring Hill for a 68-58 win but fell to Longview 58-47. more
