Troup’s bid for a playoff run ended abruptly to Elysian Fields in the bi-district round at the Kilgore High School gymnasium last week. The Tigers ended the season with a 24-8 record. Shane Thomas and Josh Parker scored in double figures, but Sharay Ratliffe dumped in 30 points to pace the Yellowjackets, who advanced to the area round of the playoffs. more

Javier Neal was named the District 17-5A Most Valuable Player. Neal, a junior, helped guide Whitehouse to the district co-championship this season. Whitehouse head coach Brent Kelley shared Coach of the Year honors with Gary Hall of Nacogdoches. more
Swimming at the State meet is an honor even if an athlete advances only to the qualifying round. Joanna Moran not only qualified but was able to advance to the finals in the Class-5A State meet at the Lee & Joe Jamail Texas Swimming Center, University of Texas in Austin Saturday, Feb. 18. more
It has been a few years, but Troup advanced into the State basketball playoffs following the end of the regular season. The Tigers were scheduled to play Elysian Fields Yellow Jackets at the Kilgore High School Gymnasium Tuesday, Feb. 21 (results were not available before press time). The winner of Tuesday’s match will play the winner of the Queen City vs. Prairiland bi-district game in the area round. more
The Ladycats posted their fourth shutout and third consecutive one with a 3-0 victory over Lindale Friday, Feb. 17. Whitehouse also blanked Ennis earlier last week. more
