Hilltop County Club in Troup hosted the annual Pete McCarty Memorial Tournament June 2-3. In the Championship Flight, Brian Baker and JR Ault fired a 57-58—115 to claim the top score. Also in the flight, Adam Renfroe and Andrew Bloch fired a 55-63—118 for third place. more

It has become an annual summer tradition. For several years, the Whitehouse 7-on-7 football team has advanced to the State championships and this year is no exception. Whitehouse qualified by winning the State qualifying tournament last weekend at Lindsey Park in Tyler. With a 34-33 victory over Lindale in the tournament semifinal match, Whitehouse will advance to the State championships (sponsored by Adidas) which will be June 28-30 at Veterans Park and Athletic Complex, 3101 Harvey Road, in College Station. more

The University Interscholastic League Legislative Council met Tuesday, June 12, to make decisions on proposed rule changes in UIL academics, athletics, music and policy. In athletics, the council approved the strengthening of penalties for players who are ejected from a contest, modified scrimmage start dates for baseball and softball. The council also modified fall practice regulations and spring training for football. more
The Texas Parks and Wildlife Department (TPWD) is asking anglers and non-anglers to participate in a brief online survey to share their experiences and opinions about alligator gar, Texas’ largest freshwater fish. The results from this survey will help TPWD make informed management decisions regarding this species in the near future. more
The University Interscholastic League Standing Committee on Athletics met Tuesday, June 12, in Round Rock to consider proposals for changes in the UIL Constitution and Contest Rules that have athletic related aspects in order to report recommendations to the Legislative Council. more
