Fans of local high school sports will not have to wait much longer to get a glimpse inside their favorite fall sports teams and organizations, as the annual Tri County Leader’s Fall Sports Previews will hit newsstands at the end of the month. This year, Tri County Leader will produce a total of two Fall Sport Preview sections, with one highlighting teams and organizations from Whitehouse High School and Troup High School, as well as another section detailing teams and organizations from Bullard High School and The Brook Hill School. more
Whitehouse will scrimmage at Kaufman with the freshmen and junior varsity set to start at 6 p.m., followed by the varsity scrimmage at 7:30 p.m. Friday, Aug. 17. The Wildcats will scrimmage Joshua at A.C. Middle School in Mesquite Friday, Aug. 24. To start the 2018 football season, Whitehouse will host Henderson at 7:30 p.m. Friday, Aug. 31. Kickoff is at 7:30 p.m. The freshmen games will be at 4 p.m. and 5:30 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 30, while the junior varsity will start at 7 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 30, all at Henderson. more
New head football coach Marcus Gold and his Wildcats started two-a-days practice last week and are preparing for the first scrimmage at Kaufman Friday, Aug. 17. The freshmen and junior varsity will start the scrimmage at 6 p.m., while varsity scrimmage will begin at 7:30 p.m. Whitehouse returns from a 6-5 season in 2017 and will be looking to improve and vie for the District 9-5A, Division II championship in the 2018 season. more

It came down to a playoff hole and Cory Ritzma was able to hold off Michael Cearley to win the annual Hilltop Club Championship July 28-29, in Troup. Net winners in the A-Flight were Brent Maris, first, Michael Cearley, second, and Chipper Hugghins, third. more
According to the Texas Girls Coaches Association, about 20 or so coaches active in volleyball in Texas can claim more than 700 victories. One of those is 1986 Whitehouse graduate Donna Benotti. Benotti has been the head coach at Cypress-Fairbanks for 18 years. She picked up her 700th victory Friday, Aug. 10. more
Carthage 3, Bullard 0 The Bullard Lady Panther varsity volleyball team began its prowl through the 2018 regular season last week, as the team hosted its season-opening battle against the state-ranked Carthage Lady Bulldogs Tuesday, Aug. 7, at Bullard High School’s Panther Gymnasium. more
The volleyball season begins the high school athletic schedule each year and Whitehouse responded well to the early start. The Ladycats opened competition with victories over Pleasant Grove Texarkana and Prairiland in a dual match they hosted last week. Whitehouse participated in the Duncanville Tournament later in the week and finished with a 2-2 mark to move to 4-2 for the season. more
Head volleyball coach Arden Johnson and the Lady Tigers jumped right into the 2018 season with a home match against Hawkins and a weekend of competition at the Van Tournament. As a result, Troup boasts a 5-2 for a successful start. The Lady Tigers defeated four of six of their opponents at the Van Tournament and dispatched Hawkins in their first match. Paced by Natalie Davenport, who recorded 15 digs, 17 assists and half a dozen kills, Troup rebounded to defeat the Lindale junior varsity, 25-12, 25-27, 25-22, in their final match at Van. more
