After 46 years of itchy uniforms, marching drills, hot summer practices and the thrill of seeing his kids succeed; Denny Whitley has hung up his director’s baton and is ready to enjoy a change in scenery. Cain Elementary Assistant Principal Stephanie Schminkey received an unexpected phone call recently from the Education Department at Baylor University. “I got the call late in the day so I called the lady from Baylor back on my cell phone as I was driving home,” Schminkey said. “I had to pull the car over, I was so overwhelmed.” more
Spring is a busy time of year for UIL competitions. This past weekend was no exception. Whitehouse High School UIL directors Paige Dyer and Keith Baty took several students to the University of Texas at Austin for the State journalism competition. more

As much as they wish they didn’t have to, Troup ISD Board of Trustees has called a Tax Ratification Election (TRE) to ask its voters for a 13 cent tax increase per $100 evaluation. The election is set for Aug. 26 with early voting beginning on Aug. 9. more
