It is never too early to learn which came first, the chicken or the egg. Even after the life cycle of a chicken unit that Brown Elementary first graders experience, that is still a difficult question to answer. “For the past three years, while we have studied the life cycle of a chicken, we have brought in real eggs for our ‘Firsties’ to experience first-hand how the process happens,” first grade teacher Laurie Rozell said. “The very first year we did it, we bought 12 eggs to share between our first grade classes.” more

Lobo Field at Longview High School featured a different kind of action Saturday, Oct. 21, as it was host to the Region 21 University Interscholastic League marching band contest. Forty-five bands in the region, including schools ranked Class 2A to 6A, were slated to compete in their respective divisions. Troup and Arp competed in the Class 3A division and Whitehouse marched in the Class 5A division. more
The board of trustees for the Troup Independent School District met in executive session to discuss one item. Superintendent Stuart Bird had submitted a letter of retirement. The board accepted the letter and Bird’s retirement becomes effective June 30, 2018.
