Jarret Carnes, a student at Whitehouse High School, was selected recently at the 23rd Annual Texas Crime Stopper campus conference in Houston to represent Smith County as a Teen Ambassador for Texas Crime Stoppers. The primary objective of the Crime Stoppers ambassador initiative is to facilitate a process and structure in which to receive youth input, guidance and direction regarding the State’s annual campus conference and campus crime stopper programs throughout Texas. more

Students at Whitehouse High School presented a Shattered Dreams event to their peers on Friday, March 9, just prior to spring break. This event “offers real life experience without the real life risks and is designed to dramatically instill teenagers with the potentially dangerous consequences of drinking alcohol and texting while driving,” according to a statement on the WISD website. more

Tyler Aggie Moms have announced the first of what they hope will become an annual fund-raiser event. The scholarship dinner and silent auction is scheduled for Tuesday, March 27, at Hollytree Country Club, (6700 Hollytree Drive in Tyler). Congressman Louie Gohmert, who serves in the US House of Representatives from Texas District 1, is slated to be the guest speaker at the event. Gohmert received his undergraduate degree from Texas A&M and is expected to share some stories from his time in Aggieland. more
