Residents living within the boundaries of Bullard Independent School District will see their tax rate decrease during Fiscal Year 2019, as the district’s Board of Trustees approved a lower tax rate after hosting a public meeting Monday, Aug. 27, inside the BISD Central Administration’s Board Room. The district’s tax rate for the 2019 fiscal year will decrease a total of four cents, from $1.67 in Fiscal Year 2018 to now $1.63, per every $100 of taxable value of homes within the district. more
Ava Johnson was honored at the Troup Independent School District trustee meeting Monday, Sept. 10. Superintendent Tammy Jones presented Johnson with a framed proclamation by the Texas State Senate recognizing her 40 years of service to education and her many accomplishments during that time. more
Students and staff members at the Brook Hill School’s Lower Campus recently were able to hear from the new leader on campus during a chapel service event. Jonathan Kegler, previously the principal at Peete Elementary School in the Tyler Independent School District, was announced by the school in April as the school’s new principal, filling the role after the retirement of former principal Sandra Fritcher. During the school’s chapel time on Wednesday, Aug. 22, Kegler had the opportunity to speak to students and teachers, offering words of encouragement through the Bible as the new school year began. more
Chief Financial Officer of Troup Independent School District Lisa White presented an overview of the 2018-2019 budget during a public hearing on the budget and proposed tax rate Thursday, Aug. 30. There was no one present to speak for or against any portion of the budget or the tax rate. TISD trustees approved both following the hearing. more

The Whitehouse Independent School District Education Foundation (WISD EF) is seeking new “Friends of the Foundation.” In just four years and with the generous support of the community, the foundation has awarded over $225,000 in grant money to innovative teachers, with $69,000 disbursed last year which supported 32 grants. more
Local Cub Scout Pack 359 is seeking new members. A “School Night for Scouting” will be hosted 6:30-8 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 30, at the Whitehouse United Methodist Church located at 405 West Main Street. Students in first- through fifth-grade interested in joining the Boy Scouts, or those just seeking information, are encouraged to attend the meeting. more
The first bells of the new school year rang Wednesday, Agu. 22 for students attending class in Bullard Independent School District “We are excited about a new school year,” said Todd Schneider, Bullard ISD Superintendent. “Overall, we had a smooth start on the first day, probably the smoothest start we’ve had. It’s great to have our students back, and we anticipate great things this year with all the good things going on in our district.” more
