Flocks of flamingos have been spotted in yards around Troup. Members of the Troup High School chapter of the National Honor Society (NHS) have been using the birds as a fund-raiser which will continue through Sunday, April 15. more

Elizabeth Bridges recently auditioned for and was accepted to a place on the Twirl-a-Jacks, the twirling team of Stephen F. Austin (SFA). She is the daughter of Melanie and Neil Bridges of Whitehouse. Bridges received her acceptance letter from SFA in December 2017, according to her mother. Though she was also accepted at Mary Hardin-Baylor, Bridges wanted to continue as a twirler and chose SFA so she could be a part of their twirling team. more

Troup FFA members participated in the Cherokee County Stock Show and Exhibition Thursday-Saturday, March 22-24, in Jacksonville. The students earned many awards and scholarships. JT Womack, who received $11,000 in scholarships from the Fort Worth livestock show, earned over $4,000 in scholarships at the Cherokee County show and received first place in livestock judging. more
The First Ladies’ Drill Team attended the American Dance/Drill Team Nationals competition in Denton Friday-Sunday, March 23-25. The First Ladies competed against 95 other teams from around the nation as well as 28 teams from Japan. The First Ladies represented Whitehouse with pride and shined in each routine they performed. It has been a very successful competition season and the First Ladies have truly shown they are the best. The awards brought home were for team, officers and solos. more
