The newest member to the Troup Independent School District Board of Trustees was introduced Monday, June 11, at the board meeting. Superintendent Tammy Jones formally introduced Joe Morris and welcomed him to the board. Students in the first- and second-grades involved in the reading acceleration program had the opportunity to display their improved skills as they read to TISD trustees. more
Whitehouse High School has a new principal though he is a familiar face to many within the district. Josh Garred has 18 years experience in education, 12 of those in administration, the last four of which were spent as principal of Whitehouse Junior High School. more

LeTourneau University held Spring 2018 commencement services recently for over 400 graduates who received bachelor’s and master’s degrees. Graduates included Robin Everett, of Arp, who earned a Master of Arts in Psychology. more

East Texas Communities Foundation awarded $189,500 in scholarships to high school and college students from East Texas for the 2018-19 school years. New scholarship recipients were honored at a reception at Marvin United Methodist Church on Thursday, May 10. Scholarship amounts ranged from $300-$5,000 per student originating from 52 different scholarship funds at East Texas Communities Foundation. more
From animation to athletics, horsemanship to robotics, and scuba to improvisational comedy, TJC has a summer camp to spark the imagination of any young explorer. Registration is open for TJC Summer Camps for children ages 3 and up. Camps began Monday, June 4, and continue through mid-August. more
The class of 2018 seniors graduating Whitehouse High School totaled 339 students. Commencement ceremonies took place in the C.L. Nix Wildcat Arena Saturday, June 2. During her salutatorian address, Tess Hamilton thanked many family, friends and teachers for what they meant to her during her high school years and what they had taught her. more
