Howdy Ags! Tyler Aggie Moms will welcome new Aggies and their moms with their annual Howdy Dinner set for Sunday, July 30, 5-7 p.m. at Pollard UMC in Tyler. The organization is set to send these students off in Aggieland style. Dinner will be provided and the Yell Leaders will be on hand to spread that Aggie Spirit. Scholarship recipients will be recognized as well. The Yell Leaders are a team of upperclassmen, three seniors and two juniors, who are elected by the TAMU student body each year. As much as they wish they didn’t have to, Troup ISD Board of Trustees has called a Tax Ratification Election (TRE) to ask its voters for a 13 cent tax increase per $100 evaluation. The election is set for Aug. 26 with early voting beginning on Aug. 9. more
Construction crews are hard at it and the summer heat is keeping everyone hopping with everything going as scheduled at multiple locations in Whitehouse ISD. While “on time” is great news to hear, under budget is even better. “Currently we are under budget on every project except the sports complex,” WISD Superintendent Dr. Chris Moran said. “And you’ll remember that our original plan for the fields was grass and it was later changed to turf. That’s where we are over.” more
The temps are moving up and so are plans for the new band year in Troup and Whitehouse. Both groups will see new captains at the helm. Robert Castillo is the new Troup High School director and Ryan McInturff will take on the middle school band. These men have already been working together to get things ready for their students’ return. more

Anna Armstrong, a May graduate of Tyler Junior College and a biology major, is one of several students selected to participate in a summer research academy. A Whitehouse native, Armstrong is spending the summer conducting biological research at Imperial College in London, England. She was also selected as a 2017 Coca-Cola Gold Academic Team member and scholarship recipient. She will attend the University of Boston in the fall. more
