Community Activities The Whitehouse Community Library will host a voter registration drive from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 25, in observance of National Voter Registration Day. Residents living within the boundaries of Bullard Independent School District will see their tax rate decrease during Fiscal Year 2019, as the district’s Board of Trustees approved a lower tax rate after hosting a public meeting Monday, Aug. 27, inside the BISD Central Administration’s Board Room. The district’s tax rate for the 2019 fiscal year will decrease a total of four cents, from $1.67 in Fiscal Year 2018 to now $1.63, per every $100 of taxable value of homes within the district. more

A total of three men have now been charged in connection to a recent house burglary in Bullard in which a safe was stolen, containing a large number of firearms. According to Bullard Police Department Captain Jeff Bragg, a burglary of a house occurred Saturday, Aug. 25, in the 900 block of Redbud Lane. more

Mark Paul Barnwell, 36, of Whitehouse, pleaded guilty to producing child pornography in 2016 and threatening minor victims in Illinois and seven other states while required to register as a sex offender, according to a press release of the U.S. Attorney’s Office of the Central District of Illinois. more
