Beginning next week, the Bullard Banner News and the Tri County Leader newspapers, owned by Bluebonnet Publishing, LLC., will be merged into a single publication. “An old newspaper guy once said, ‘a newspaper’s first responsibility to its readers is to stay in business,’” said Bill Woodall, publisher. “For that to happen, we need the efficiencies that come from a single press run, from making all our deliveries on one day. Rather than close one or both of the papers, we’ve decided to consolidate.” more
The Troup Boxing Gym hosted the Lucky Vascocu Memorial Tournament Saturday, July 28. The tournament was named for long-time boxing coach Edward “Lucky” Vascocu, who died in 2005. There were 20 bouts in each class and the winner received a championship belt. The tournament was sanctioned by USA Boxing. more
