It’s a trashy job but someone has to do it and the Whitehouse Chamber of Commerce agrees that no one does it better than Republic Services. Republic Services has served the City of Whitehouse since May 2014. They offer residential, commercial and industrial trash collection, curbside recycling, curbside bulk collection and once per month landfill pass. more
Work continues on F.M. 344 at the Bell Branch Creek bridge, approximately one mile west of State Highway 110. The concrete work on this project will replace the culvert. The job also includes restoring the pavement. more
Lake Side Baptist Church and Mt. Carmel Baptist Church will host Vacation Bible School in June. Vacation Bible School at Mt. Carmel Baptist Church will feature the theme, Galactic StarVeyors – Discovering the God of the Universe. VBS will be from 9 a.m. to noon each day Monday through Friday, June 19-23. Camp will be for ages four years through students in sixth grade, and campers may register and order a T-shirt from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. June 19-22. It was the nation’s bicentennial year, 1976. These Troup Tigers were let loose on the world to make it better place. They are coming back together to share old stories and new photos of the grandkids. more
School may be out for the summer and kids are nowhere near campus, but the Whitehouse Junior High School honor band continues their quest up the ranks of the Texas Music Educators Association contest on a recording. The group recently took first place in the Region 21, Class 3C Region Honor Band Listening Session held in Lindale. more
After 46 years of itchy uniforms, marching drills, hot summer practices and the thrill of seeing his kids succeed, Denny Whitley has hung up his director’s baton and is ready to enjoy a change in scenery. This calls for a celebration. more
It was a big weekend as alumni from Carlisle High School gathered for their annual reunion, celebrating accomplishments and remembering the past. The CHS reunion began on June 9 with a golf tournament. All of those proceeds go toward scholarships to deserving CHS graduating seniors. Friday night was capped off with a fish fry that left bellies full and laughter high. more
The Whitehouse Community Library summer activities continue through the end of June. STEAM Team activities are slated to begin at 3:30 p.m. each Thursday through the end of the month, including STEAM Team: Architecture on Thursday, June 15; STEAM Team: Neighborhood Nature on Thursday, June 22; and STEAM Team: Conserve and Protect on Thursday, June 29. Fridays will feature Giant Jenga at 10 a.m. and a stuffed animal sleepover at 5 p.m. June 16; Grace EmBEDded at 10 a.m. June 23; and Caldwell Zoo at 10 a.m. and Fandom Mapmaking at 3 p.m. June 30. more
