Beverly and Jimmy Lusk are members of the community who have always been good donors to Meals on Wheels in Whitehouse, according to site director Carol Arnold. “Whatever I need, all I have to do is call her and she will provide the need,” Arnold said of Beverly Lusk. more
After months of planning and fund-raising for a splash park, the donor of the $100,000 original contribution to the project was revealed as Diane Layne at the Troup city council meeting Monday, July 23. Layne, along with her grown children Mickey and Sheri Layne, Amanda Layne and Jeff and Angie Hammonds, have chosen the name Joe Layne Family Splash Pad. more
The Whitehouse Food Pantry, also known as Philadelphia Blessing, is conducting its annual school supply drive for the approximately 300 children of client families. The community is asked to open their hearts and donate whatever possible so these children in need will have what is necessary for a successful school year. more
Seven authors, three of which are award-winning, plan to share homemade pie with the public at a meet and greet from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday, Aug. 6, at the Cameron J- Jarvis Public Library in Troup. These authors are interested in knowing what people want to read and to have the opportunity of sharing stories and books with them. What better way to do that than a pie social? more
History was made when, for the first time, Whitehouse FFA received Gold Status for the National Chapter Award and placed eighth overall in the state at the 90th Annual Texas FFA State Convention in Fort Worth. The chapter advanced to National FFA to be judged and ranked among all FFA chapters in the nation. The National Chapter Award Program is designed to award FFA chapters who actively implement the FFA mission and strategies. Whitehouse is among the top 10 percent of chapters in the state. more
The Troup FFA officers traveled to Fort Worth to take part in the 90th Texas State FFA Convention, the largest student led youth organization in the nation. The convention, which ran Monday-Friday, July 9-13, attracted over 12,000 students and guests. more
