Church Activities The congregation of Bullard First Assembly (650 S. Dr. M Roper Parkway, Bullard) will host a Back to School Bash event 5-8 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 18. The event is free of charge, with hot dogs, lemonade, and snow cones, as well as bounces houses, a petting zoo, pony rides, and a worship concert featuring Barrabus. There will also be offered free school supplies and 100 free backpacks. A free laptop will also be given to a student between 7:45-8 p.m. more
Community Activities WFA hosts Back to School Health Fair The Whitehouse First Assembly will host a Back to School Health Fair 10 a.m.-2 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 11. All services at the fair are being offered to students kindergarten through 12th grade free of cost and include dental and hearing screenings, immunizations, haircuts and backpacks with school supplies. Other activities of the day include inflatables, a petting zoo, concessions and first responders with their vehicles as well as a blood drive by Carter BloodCare. The event will take place rain or shine. more
Community Activities Troup Library to host author meet and greet The Cameron J-Jarvis Public Library in Troup will host seven authors at a pie social and meet and greet event 6-8 p.m. Monday, Aug. 6. The authors include Brinda Carey, Leonard O. Spurling, M.K. Sherlock, Crysa James, Linda Nelson Ellis, Janic Ernest and Patricia LaVigne. more

The church is located at 4539 FM 13 East, six miles east of Troup. Everyone is welcome to come enjoy a spirit-filled program and stay for hot dogs and ice cream afterwards. more

Community Activities AARP driver’s class available There will be an AARP Driver Safety Class at Pollard United Methodist Church, 3030 New Copeland Road in Tyler, from 12:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. Wednesday July 11. The cost is $15 for AARP members and $20 for non-members. The class is open to all drivers with a valid driver’s license but is geared to participants over 50. Church Activities First Baptist Church to host Fire in the Sky First Baptist Church of Troup, located at 935 Highway 135 South, will host a carnival-style event Friday, June 29. Beginning at 5 p.m., the church will offer carnival rides, train car rides, bounce houses, hotdogs and hamburgers and a message by Pastor Joe Ballard.
