Community Activities Cherokee County Genealogical Society The next regular meeting of the Cherokee County Genealogical Society will be held at 5 p.m. Monday, Jan. 8, at the First United Methodist Church, 1031 SE Loop 456, in Jacksonville. The meeting will be followed by light “Pot Luck” refreshments provided by CCGS members.  Regular CCGS meetings are held the second Monday evening of the months September through May unless otherwise announced. Community Activities Rockin’ Christmas The Whitehouse Christmas parade begins 10 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 2. Those who want to participate in the parade must submit an entry form and must be signed up by Nov. 30. Forms can also be picked up and dropped off at Kelly A/C and Heating, 208 Highway 110 South, or Kay Taylor – Farmer’s Insurance, 1008 Highway 110 South. Forms can also be found on the Whitehouse Chamber of Commerce website, www.whitehousetx.com. more
Community Activities Recycle-Recycle-Recycle Republic Services in Whitehouse picks up recycling on Wednesday. Recyclable items include paper, newspaper, cardboard, plastic, aluminum cans and tin cans. Troup has a self-service recycling receptacle. The Allied Waste Recycling bin is located at the corner of W. Bradford and N. Georgia. more
