Community Activities AARP driver’s class available There will be an AARP Driver Safety Class at Pollard United Methodist Church, 3030 New Copeland Road in Tyler, from 12:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. Wednesday July 11. The cost is $15 for AARP members and $20 for non-members. The class is open to all drivers with a valid driver’s license but is geared to participants over 50. Church Activities First Baptist Church to host Fire in the Sky First Baptist Church of Troup, located at 935 Highway 135 South, will host a carnival-style event Friday, June 29. Beginning at 5 p.m., the church will offer carnival rides, train car rides, bounce houses, hotdogs and hamburgers and a message by Pastor Joe Ballard. Community Activities Major Thaddeus Beall Chapter NSDAR to hold meeting The next meeting of the Major Thaddeus Beall Chapter, National Society Daughters of the American Revolution is scheduled for 10:30 a.m. Saturday, May 19 at Caddo Mounds State Historical site, 1649 State Highway 21 West, in Alto. The site is located approximately six miles west of the four-way stop in Alto where Highway 60 and State Highway 21 cross in Alto and is well marked by state signs. NSDAR chapter members and guests are being asked to bring a sack lunch to be eaten at the site following the program. more
